A running Red Wolf

Unlike its name, Red Wolves don’t look very red. In winter, they look kind of brown and gray. They have large ears and a broad muzzle, almond shaped eyes and wide noses.  Its muzzle has white fur around its lips, and it is medium in size between the gray wolf and the coyote. Red wolves that live in Southeast Texas mostly eat cotton rats, rabbits, marsh rice rats, muskrats, and nutria.  But in Northeastern North Carolina, they primarily eat raccoons, rabbits, and white tailed deer. Red wolves live from Texas to Florida to New York, and are almost extinct in the wild. They usually live in forests, coastal prairies, and swamps. They’re also marked as critically endangered.
